The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners are pleased to announce that they have signed 1997 born Victor-Olivier Courchesne from Sorel, Quebec. Courchesne, a 6 ft 2” goaltender, had been playing for the Daytona Racers of the USPHL. The Gold Miner organization would like to welcome him aboard.
Victor-Olivier Courchesne will join Kirkland Laker Tyler Mazzocato to form the Gold Miner goaltending tandem in Kirkland Lake.
In eight games with the Daytona Racers in the United States Premier Hockey League, Courchesne played a total of 390:41 minutes for the Racers and had a five wins and two losses. The 17 year old Sorel-Tracy, Quebec native, faced a total of 268 shots in net with the Racers stopping 243. Before With the Racers, Courchesne goals against average was 3.53 with a save percentage of .914.
Both Audet and Courchesne trained in the off – season together with goaltending coach Stephane Menard in Sorel Tracy, Quebec. Victor-Olivier Courchesne will join the Gold Miners on October 22nd, just in time for the 3 game Western road trip.
